Certificate of professional Competence

Driver ‘CPC’ periodic training was introduced across the European Union  in 2008 / 2009 to raise driver standards and safety.

All professional Bus, Coach and Lorry drivers operating vehicles over 3.5 tons with license categories C, C1, CE and C1E must hold the Driver CPC to be able to drive for a living.

There are 5 training modules that need to be completed, each consisting of 7 Hours training.

35 hours of periodic training must be completed within a maximum period of 5 years

From September 2014, if Drivers have not completed 35 hours training, then they will no longer be legally allowed to operate  a vehicle in a professional capacity.
The training modules cover aspects such as ‘health & safety’, ‘driver hours & Tachographs’, ‘safe vehicle loading’ and ‘safe and economic driving’
